The Aes Sedai

Moiraine Jodie Foster - 37.2%
Gillian Anderson - 6.2%
Kate Mulgrew - 5.3%

The masses have definitely spoken on this one - Jodie Foster is the popular choice. The two runners-up are also known for playing strong, confident female role models, although Mulgrew has got the strangest-sounding voice I've ever heard.
Jodie Foster

I can't think of a better choice, not with her history as a performer and producer. It's her performance in 'Contact' that has the strongest parallels to Moiraine; the drive to pursue her goals without pause, the willingness to sacrifice everything, the hope that lies buried within her.
Jodie Foster
Siuan Gillian Anderson - 25.0%
Jodie Foster - 8.8%
Cate Blanchett - 7.5%

Whether she likes it or not, Gillian Anderson will forever be linked to her X-Files character, Dana Scully, much like Leonard Nimoy was Spock, and Kelsey Grammer is Sideshow Bob. Still, it could be worse; she could have been George Wendt.
Gillian Anderson

Watching Anderson last night on the X-Files, I was once again struck by how good an actress she really is; she might be one of the best three or five actresses working today. She'd be terrific as Siuan.
Gillian Anderson
Verin Angela Lansbury - 23.9%
Kathy Bates - 16.4%
Camryn Manheim - 10.5%

My pick from the previous cast list captures the shawl just ahead of Kathy Bates and Camryn Manheim. Ugh, it's getting harder to think of stuff to say for each role. :(
Angela Lansbury

I struggled with this one for a while, trying to find someone else for the role, before finally settling on Lansbury. She's not quite right for Verin, but she'll do until I can think of someone better. Maybe next time. :)
Angela Lansbury
Leane Laura Dern - 25.0%
Geena Davis - 7.7%

Plenty of good suggestions for this role, but only Laura Dern had any kind of significant support, and she's an actress that has dropped out of the spotlight in recent years. The funniest vote for tall, willowy Leane was Jada Pinkett, who is small and pixieish.
Laura Dern

It's tough to argue against her, because she fits the role physically, and she's shown herself to be a capable actress. Man, I've agreed with the popular vote four times in a row! This can't be good.
Laura Dern
Alanna Meg Ryan - 11.1%
Jennifer Aniston - 9.3%
Catherine Zeta-Jones - 7.4%

While I like Meg Ryan, she is better suited to romantic comedies like 'Sleepless In Seattle'. Then again, Alanna cries a lot, and considering Meg's current marital problems, she may be more right for the role than you'd think.
Julianna Margulies

On the hit show 'E.R.', Margulies spent a great deal of time in tears, so she's got that going for her. She's probably looking for something new to do these days anyway. :)
 Julianna Margulies
Sheriam Gillian Anderson - 15.1%
Kathy Bates - 9.1%
Emma Thompson - 6.1%

Apparently, the voting public wants Gillian to play two characters at the same time. :) I see Sheriam as a den mother of sorts, wanting the best for her charges but unafraid to crack the whip when such tactics are needed. She's also in over her head, as we saw in 'Path of Daggers'.
Kathy Bates

Kathy's a great actress, and this role is the best fit for her. And if, in fact, Sheriam turns to the Dark Side, Bates can handle the evil stuff, as we saw in 'Misery'.
Kathy Bates
Cadsuane Helen Mirren - 20.0%
Judi Dench - 13.3%
Shirley MacLaine - 8.9%

All three of these actresses would be excellent picks, and it's interesting to note that two of them are British. Is there something especially intimidating about mature British women? And Shirley MacLaine's got all her psychics working for her, so...
Shelley Winters

You may blink and scratch your head at this one, but it was her role as Roseanne's grandmother on the show 'Roseanne' that made me think of her. I figure, anyone who could put Roseanne off-balance has got what it takes to play Cadsuane.
Shelley Winters
Myrelle Mira Sorvino - 17.4%
Julianna Margulies - 13.1%
Sandra Bullock - 8.7%

Myrelle is one of those Greens that like to bond extra Warders not just for the protection, but for the 'action'. She keeps her Warders on their toes, that's for sure.
Mira Sorvino

Given her bold, outwardly sexual attitude, Myrelle needs an actress who can be sexy and still carry that Aes Sedai dignity at the same time. I think Mira can do this really well. I can certainly see her tackling a Warder and having her way with him pretty easily.
Mira Sorvino
Theodrin Neve Campbell - 16.7%
Anna Friel - 12.5%
Alyson Hannigan - 12.5%

The incumbent wins again, although by a small margin. My interest in Neve Campbell has waned in the last couple of years; she seems like such a one-note actress, and when is she going to make a movie that isn't a Scream sequel?
Alyson Hannigan

I had to find a way to get my favorite Wicca girl into the cast list, and while she seems slight and unassuming as Willow on 'Buffy, The Vampire Slayer', fans of the show have seen her tough, iron-willed persona emerge from time to time. Plus, isn't she cute as a button?
Alyson Hannigan
Romanda Annette Bening - 22.2%
Glenn Close - 11.1%
Kathy Bates - 11.1%

This was hard for most people to make a pick because Jordan really hasn't developed Romanda as a character yet. She's a plot device, not a person, and so we don't have much to go on.
Stockard Channing

It's with tough roles like these that I allow myself to indulge in some favoritism by picking actors and actresses who I like, even if I don't have a good reason for it. Channing is wonderful as the First Lady on 'The West Wing'; hell, I still remember her from 'Grease'.
Stockard Channing
Elaida Kate Mulgrew - 21.2%
Anjelica Huston - 15.2%
Glenn Close - 12.1%

Wow, I guess there are a lot of people who think Captain Janeway is a little too authoritarian. Well, I must admit to thinking the woman needs to extract the bug up her ass, but that's just my Austin Powers side talking.
Helen Mirren

Elaida is a big role, and one of the most important, so I wanted the actress who can play brittle and on-the-edge as well as anyone. Helen Mirren has shown on 'Prime Suspect' that she's got the range and the talent. And when she gets angry, I get afraid.
Helen Mirren
Vandene/Adeleas Camryn Manheim - 11.1%
Helen Mirren - 11.1%
Kathy Bates - 11.1% (tie)

I'm combining the roles of Vandene and Adeleas since they're nearly identical in appearance, and you'd probably want one person to play both. Problem with Manheim, though, is that Vandene and Adeleas are slender...
Isabella Rossellini

Exotic enough to appear somewhat ageless, yet regal enough to pass for Aes Sedai.
Isabella Rossellini
