I thought it would be a good idea to try something new, something different, something you can't find anywhere else. (Yeah, yeah, besides good writing :) ) I wanted to incorporate my affection for several WOT scenes with a need to practice the art of screenwriting. So what we're going to have here is a collection of short essays on each of those scenes, and along with each essay, an adapted screenplay treatment of that particular scene. The Light knows I'm probably trampling all over Robert Jordan's copyright here, and the moment I get an official letter from a lawyer telling me to cease and desist, I will. But in the meantime, you'll get scripts of scenes, and my idea is that the best way to film The Wheel Of Time would be through a syndicated weekly series (like Xena or Star Trek), so what that means is...

- the scripts will be 15-20 minutes/pages in length, to fit between commercial breaks.

- I will be making minor dialogue edits, scene alterations, and other creative liberties in order to make the script more TV-friendly. Some of Jordan's dialogue works well when you read it with your eyes, but when spoken, there's a lot of redundancies and unnecessary lines, since things like emotion and emphasis can be handled by the actors instead of the prose.

- as much as many of us would like to see the 'Far Snows Dance' on the screen, this isn't the Playboy Channel, kids, so don't start asking me when I'll be writing the script for that.

- in the scripts, there will be some camera direction, but only when it's necessary. Don't expect me to get into Matrix-like detail with the fight scenes. I'll let the imaginary director handle that stuff. :)

You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the scripts, as I will be creating them in PDF format (I tried to make it look right with HTML, but it was too frustrating). Luckily, the Reader is free, and once installed, it integrates nicely with your browser. I'll be adding new scenes one at a time, so you'll have something to look forward to in the coming weeks and months.
